Anniversaries

The Fathers House Missionary Baptist Church, 500 29th St., will celebrate the second anniversary of the Rev. Dr. Lloyd A. and first lady Rosa Hill at 3:30 pm Sunday. The Rev. Vincent Coleman Pastor of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church will speak along with his choir and congregation.

Miscellaneous

Christ the King Catholic Church,; 1504 Grosscup Ave., Dunbar, will have a rummage sale from 8 am to 2 pm on Aug. 6.

The Covenant House Food Pantry, housed at First Presbyterian Church of Charleston, 600 Shrewsbury St., is sending out an urgent needs request to area churches in the Kanawha Valley for food items. Items needed are cereal, boxed meals, 1-pound bag of rice, 1-pound bag of pinto beans and canned fruit. Donations can be dropped off at First Presbyterian Church. The Covenant House Food Pantry is open weekday mornings, Monday through Friday. Those in need of food must visit the Drop In Center to get the required referral and then may proceed to the Food Pantry.

Freedom Baptist Church, 6602 Roosevelt Ave., will sponsor a free movie and pizza at 11 am today at the church in Kanawha City. The movie will be The Grace Card. From Interstate 77, Exit 95, turn right on MacCorkle Avenue East. Pass Kmart and turn left onto 66th Street. The church is on the corner of Roosevelt and 66th Street. Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2440 US 60 in Hurricane, will host a fall festival from 7 am to 1 pm Sept. 24. The festival will include a flea market, crafters, food, childrens games and live music.

Music

Bluegrass Gospel Jamboree will be held from 1 to 10 pm today at Crossroads Community Church of God on Martins Branch Road, Sissonville. An open jam session will be held from 1 to 4 pm on the lawn and at 4 pm in the church. Some of the groups are The Miller Family, The Higgenbothem Family, Shadyside, Faith Harmony Boys, Harvest Trio, Tracy Miller, Johnny and Barry Staats and Cody Casto. The jamboree will be held rain or shine. The event is free, however, donations will be accepted at the door.

The 2011 West Virginia State Gospel Sing will be held at 1 pm today in Mount Nebo in Summersville. All gospel groups are welcome. Trios and quartets on will be featured at 7 pm today.

The West Virginia Gospel Music Association will have a gospel sing at 6 pm Aug. 6 at Mount Tabor Church of God in St. Albans. Singers will be The Kidds, Faith Reed, New Journey and others. Steve Wood will be the emcee. Concessions will be available.

Ann Taylor will be singing at 7 pm Sunday at The Meadowbrook Freewill Baptist Church located on W.Va. 114 above Capital High School. The Rev. Rex Lewis will be bringing the message.

The Rev. Jimmie McKnight will be in concert at 6 pm today at St. Paul Baptist Church, 821 B Street, St. Albans. Special guests will be First Baptist Church of Vandalia Male Chorus and Thunder of Zion Dance Team from Shar-Shalom Bible Center in Hurricane.

The Believers will be singing at 6 pm Sunday at Cornerstone Community Church, located at 2902 Piedmont Road.

Blood Line will sing at 6 pm Sunday at The Rumble Community Church.

Mountain Heights Church will have a gospel sing at 6 pm today at the church, located at 1201 Chestnut St. The church camp choir will sing. Refreshments will follow.

Elaine Dawson will sing at 6 pm Sunday at Youngs Memorial Methodist Church, Queen Shoals. Dave Godwin will be bringing the evening message.

Nicholas Naylor will sing at noon today at the youth day celebration at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church, Pinch. Naylor will also sing at 10 am Sunday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church; at 6 pm. Sunday at the Spencer Committee on Aging, Spencer; and Friday at Riverfront Park in Point Pleasant.

John Phillips will sing at 7 pm Sunday at Holly Memorial, Spring Hill Mountain.
